Brand Showcase | Amongst the Vines

Amongst the Vines is an up and coming Bed & Breakfast in the McLaren Vale region of the Fleurieu Peninsula. A new venture for the winemaking owners, this new business needed a unique identity of its own, separate to their existing vineyard.

One thing that was very important to the business owners is that the branding complimented the period architectural elements of the property, as well as clearly portrayed that the location was ‘among the vines’, with the house surrounded by local vineyards.

The first step in the creation of the Amongst the Vines branding was to settle on a Mood Board that captured the overall feeling the client wanted to portray. Together with the client a Pinterest board was created that featured logo styles and colour schemes that stood out to them and fit with their desired brand direction.

This inspiration was then collated and reduced down to two different Mood Board concepts for them to choose between. Once the initial direction and colour scheme was established, we moved onto the logo design.

The first step of the logo design process is to sketch out as many ideas as possible, with the best three or four getting digitised and developed further. Of the six digital concepts that were further developed, the two most appropriate designs were presented to the client to choose from.

The chosen concept then went through three rounds of revisions before the final design was settled on. Key changes included the addition of more features so that the house more accurately represented the property and making sure that there were enough grape vine leaves to play up the ‘amongst the vines’ feeling.

Lastly, some colour was added to the roof of the property in the logo to add some further visual interest. From here a Brand Board was created which outlined the final colour scheme, type face choices and included two logo variations suitable for various applications.

The final result was a brand that the client was extremely happy with, which was translated into signage, onto their website and into promotional brochures. Amongst the Vines debuted their new visual identity at the 2019 Cellar Door Fest to great success.
